The Thugs: personalities coming out

These pics range from when they were about a year old to two years old.  Their personalities were really coming out at this point.  Silk is adventurous and can be very insistent, to the point of being obstinate, when it comes to something he wants.  He's not shy and he likes to greet visitors.

Velvet is much more passive and chill, and she typically runs and hides when visitors show up.  She'll eventually come out if the visitor sticks around for a while, and once she gets used to someone (after half a dozen regular visits or so), she won't run and hide when they show up.

The airplane ears crack me up.

Velvet looks like she's listening to a story that she doesn't quite believe.

"Oh piece of string, nobody gets me like you do."

I think that maybe I interrupted something.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think that maybe Silk is giving me the finger.

There was a long stretch where they were fascinated with the dish washing process and would sit and watch me.

Silk in his iconic 'chilling in a bin' pose.

Velvet didn't quite know what to make of whatever it was that I was doing.

Soft, fluffy belleh.

Nothing like having a cat to cuddle with and keep you company when you're sick.

Awww...

The Thugs: getting into everything

At this point, Silk and Velvet were about seven months old or so, full of energy, and very curious about everything.  Silk made a little spot for himself on my shoddy shelf so he could watch what I was doing on the computer.

Multi-level resting spots.

Clean laundry dumped on the bed so I could fold it and put it away.  So of course these two get into the middle of it all.

I think that Silk was trying to say hello to Marvin.

Velvet's murder mittens are very sharp.

Mid yawn.  Or mid scream.  Can't remember which.

I think that I found his lair.

He looks a wee bit walleyed in this pic.

Velvet likes cozy little spots.

Loaf.

I think that he was getting ready to pounce.

"Again with the camera?"

Lounging.

Secret hideout?

She's such a goof.

I think that he's judging me.

This pic was taken mid-zoomies.

Aaand more judgement.

They were apparently curious about my teeth-brushing process.

How is this comfortable?

They were watching a fly on the wall.

The fascination.

This is one of my favourite pics of them.

The Thugs: growing like weeds

At this point in time, Silk and Velvet were about five months old and just full of trouble.

Some of their favourite spots were now getting to be a little cramped for both of them to hang out on.

This sequence of pictures of Silk are some of my favourites.  Just him chilling in a plastic bin.

Here he notices me taking pictures and gives me a look like "What are you doing, creeper?"

"No paparazzi!"

Silk and Velvet decided that these ugly green blinds just had to go.

Here is Silk giving me his best "I'm innocent" look.  I got that look a lot.

Cozy.

My worktable.  I discovered that having a couple of empty bins kept them from lying right in the middle of what I was doing.  However, the bins were no help in protecting me from a low-flying housefly.

Picture, if you will, me sitting at my worktable with a freshly opened can of Coke at my right hand.  The table is covered in tiny bits and pieces of plastic models, with an open bin with more than a dozen compartments filled with carefully sorted tiny bits and pieces at my left hand.

Suddenly, a housefly zooms by my head, right at eye level.  Followed almost immediately by two lanky and energetic kittens, scrambling in a mad dash in an attempt to catch the fly.

There was what can only be called an explosion, an eruption, a cataclysmic paroxysm of plastic bits and pieces, Coke, and cat fur.  They didn't catch the fly.

"It was like this when I got here."

I think they were about six months old in this picture.  Look at how long Velvet is, yet it still hadn't really sunk in just how big they were going to be.
